STEVE EASTERWOOD
(b. 1954, American)

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Steve Easterwood began doodling as soon as he could hold a pencil.  His artistic endeavors were encouraged by his parents who provided him with age-appropriate art supplies.  He credits his mother with his artistic success because she constantly bragged on his efforts as a child.  Steve spent much of his life doing pencil drawings.  For many years animals were among his favorite subjects.  In 2001 he changed artistic direction when plein air painter Dave Bennett became his mentor.  Working almost exclusively in oils, Steve and Dave have made trips to New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming to do representational paintings of God’s glorious creation.  In addition to studying with Dave Bennett, Steve has taken workshops from John Budicin, Matt Smith, Ralph Oberg, and Marcia Burtt.  Other painters who have influenced Steve are Clyde Aspevig, Richard Schmid, Kevin Macpherson, and Scott Christensen.  Most recently, Steve studied with noted St. Louis painter Billyo O'Donnell.  Steve lives in Dexter, Missouri on a farm with his wife, Cheryl.
